she/her

Sanaz is an Iranian-American originally from Dubai, U.A.E. She moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue higher education. With degrees in family therapy and psychology and a commitment to supporting historically marginalized communities, her passion and work center around trauma-informed practices that promote resilience and community strengthening. Currently, Sanaz practices as a therapist, trauma informed care consultant, and yoga teacher. Both in the therapy room and in the community she aims to create space for meaningful connections that nurture a sense of belonging and feeling seen.

In 2018 Sanaz started supporting Afghan women refugees; facilitating trauma-informed healing circles that blend traditional support groups with yoga, in Farsi. She began the work in 2019 through a collaboration with a grassroots NGO in Greece. She then brought the work into the city of Philly in 2022, forging ongoing partnerships with local refugee support organizations.

Sanaz continues to seek community collaborations at the intersection of mental health, community care, and social justice. In her free time she’s committed to amplifying the Woman, Life, Freedom revolution in the city of Philadelphia.
